Miles and Moments_20250809_Say Hi to Passerby

This week, I caught the flu and felt dizzy and tired. Yesterday, I went to Leuven for an experiment—starting at 7:30 a.m. and returning after 11 p.m. It was exhausting, but I keep reminding myself: things will get better.

When I got home, I fell asleep immediately. This morning, after a long, restful sleep, I went for a 10 km run. The fresh air and sunshine made me feel so much better, and I’m deeply grateful for the beautiful weather and the lovely people I met along the way.

Yes, some people, they are not that kind but most people in Bruges are so friendly, especially when in the morning, most of them were out jogging, running, or walking with their dogs, I even met a girl with a bunch of sunflowers, and she smiled at me and I said hi to her. Along the way, I found a lot of adorable dogs, and I couldn’t help but stop to pet them. haha🐶

I made it a little mission to say “goedemorgen” (“good morning”) to everyone I passed. Most people smiled back or returned the greeting—it was such a small thing, yet so heartwarming.

I also completed my loop around the Egg of Bruges and met some old friends: two fluffy rabbits I’ve seen before. They were just as cute as I remembered, so of course, I had to take pictures 🐰

When I ran back home, I went to the morning market and bought some fresh vegetables and fruits. The market was bustling with people, and the vendors were so friendly. I love the atmosphere of the market, it’s always so lively and colorful. I also bought 3 lettuce seedlings and 3 spinach seedlings, just for fun. ^_^ 6 of seedlings cost 1.5 euros,

There was a funny moment at the market: when I tried to pay with my phone, the vendor’s machine didn’t work with my card. I thought I’d have to walk back home for cash, but then I came up with an idea. I asked another vendor (who sold fruits) to give me some cash in exchange for me paying him via smartphone. It worked perfectly, and I could pay the first vendor without any trouble.

Finally, thank you for my colleague’s small gift. ^_^

Bruges feels like my third home. There’s a comforting sense of belonging here—friendly faces, beautiful scenery, and warm moments that make my days brighter.

Thank you to everyone I met today—you made my heart warmer. I wish you all a wonderful weekend and good health.
